Garganega and U.
PSA: this wine is delicious. 🌙 Anselmi San Vincenzo was literally the only thing we wanted to drink at the College and Manning lcbo, but we really wanted to drink it!
And it is only $16.95 and very wildly available! Okay then! 💕 Its maker, Roberto Anselmi is one of Italy’s most famous rogue winemakers. ⚡️ Frustrated with his neighbours’ crappy high volume grapes & garbage wines, he left his appellation of Soave in 2000 preferring to call his 100% Garganega (the grape of Soave!) the less prestigious IGT Veneto instead of being associated with their lowly lot. He is obsessed with sustainably farming, high density planting and low cropping - things that create more stressed vines that are harder to work but produce way more concentrated fruit = way better wine. 💫 Not only is the bottle goldenly handsome, the wine is explosively aromatic when you twist her shiny capsule. Think mulled citrus poured pipping hot into a wooden bowl when cold, fistfuls of herbs and the smell of the ocean after a rain. The palate is rich (before the money has gone to her head) and almost tropical (the tropical tan you think you are going to get not the lobster monstrosity that befalls you). ☀️🔥 It tastes like reuniting with best, old friends: warm, giving, gracious and affirming. There is no need to be anything you are not and what you are is good. 🙂 It will go down so so easy before a meal, pair with anything light or be p. nice at 5:08 pm on a Friday in your new @zalto_glasses because this is living. Garganega is Italy’s 6th most planted grape, pretty hard to say and often quite bland. When planted properly on the volcanic soils of Soave Classico it is powerfully aromatic and floral with beautiful acidity and a juicy lil body. We love this hidden gem and think u will 2. ps: yes we were id’d buying this! when the teller saw our id he told us that we looked great, which really endeared us to the store despite their meager selection! Sometimes that is all it takes. #lcboandu
