Valdiguié , Sebastapol, USA

Like a baby soft Bojo brought up under the Cali sun. A post-sizzling-summer welcome to the newest member of the GWI lineup, Emme! After meeting winemaker Rosalind Reynolds earlier this year in California, we immediately fell in love with the project. Named after her nature-loving grandmother, Emme focuses on minimal to no intervention winemaking, and sits in a hot-bed of new-cali talent! 2022 was her second year working with the pronounced, purple-y flavoured and well structured valdiguié, from the organically tended Ricetti vineyard! Foot crushed and left to ferment whole cluster for 10 days, the tannins shepherd themselves across your tongue with ease. Wet wildflowers, fruiting bramble, rustic wooden barn kinda texture, crowberries & sloping minerality leading you into tingles of spiced hibiscus tea. Enjoy alongside chicken of the woods mushrooms sautéed with caramelized onions.

Colombard, Chardonnay, Sebastapol, USA

From the winemaker: “‘Amando el sol’ means ‘loving the sun’, an ode to bright golden colombard fruit that ripens happily in the California heat". We absolutely flipped upon first sip of these spritely wines in California this past April, and are positively delighted to bring them to Ontario for the very first time. Meet Emme, the frolicking project of Rosalind Reynolds, named after her ecologically-minded grandmother and perfectly in line with the new-cali natural wine movement. FUN FACT! Rosalind works out of the same space as one of our other fave Cali producers, Martha Stoumen and is the assistant winemaker at PAX for her day job! The organic blend consists of Ricetti Vineyard colombard (70%), left high in acidity after a drawn out, cool end to the growing season. Next, to create balance and add some creamy weight, plush chardonnay (30%) from the Bazzano vineyard was brought in. Sunflower seeds and pollen, whipped butter packets on the table at a diner, nutty like a tiny sherry fairy lives inside, fall herbs, a lees textured helix with sleek minerality, acorns & lime popsicle acid that clears up any and all confusion. Enjoy while Dick Dale rumbles out of a jukebox.

Field Blend, Sebastapol, USA

An aromatic, bone dry and low abv deep rosé to light red that feels like a blitzed up version of spring and fall simultaneously. Thanks to a chance meeting and phenomenal tasting back in April, we are pleased to welcome the newest member of the GWI lineup, Emme! A bushy-tailed project from winemaker Rosalind Reynolds, named after her ecologically-minded grandmother and propelled forwards by her love of minimal intervention winemaking. The 2022 pink lemonade is a blend of all the varieties planted at the organic Ricetti Vineyard, cared for by the very well known Pam and Tom! From two separate picks, one of the earlier ripening varieties, including abouriou and zinfandel for tannin and colour, plus some earlier picked colombard for sharp acidity, all partially crushed and left to ferment on skins for five days. The second pick includes the later-ripening varieties, aromatic valdiguié, spiced carignan & further ripened, more stone-fruited colombard, all very minimally crushed for a partial, six day carbonic maceration. Sliced tomato, zucchini and blossoms, dusty sweet tarts and blow pops on Halloween, ashy salt crust & thick platelets of tannins. Enjoy on a porch swing in your Sunday best.
