FUN FACT #2! ‘Troncone’ means stump and was the nickname of Riccardo's grandfather, PLUS, there is also a sizeable stump in this sandstone-limestone-clay vineyard, giving this wine's name an adorable and arborous double meaning! ‘Ragnaie’ is also the name of the vineyard, and translates to Etruscan for spiderweb, which is reflected on the label by the netting that Etruscans would use to catch small birds up on these high slopes. Teen-aged sangiovese vines were harvested and fermented on skins for two weeks in concrete, before ten months in used Slavonian oak casks to soothe.
