“Stomp, dump, stomp, dump, seal and cover for ten days then press.” Tyler Thrussell describes making Neon Eon’s ‘Primitif’ as if it were a kind of vague, medieval recipe whose precise measurements and exact techniques have been lost to time. The truth is, it’s really that simple. Tyler’s wines come from a highly curious and unpretentious place and every new cuvée is exploding with flavour. This is a blend of Gewurztraminer, Schonburger (interestingly, a grape most commonly found in southern England) and Gruner-Veltliner. Whole cluster stomped, dumped, and macerated for 10 days producing a wine of such psychedelic intensity you quickly lose the plot - is that big purple dinosaur really there or are you just ‘peaking’?! Think juicy, ripe Okanagan nectarines, wild foraged elderflower, the slightly sweet umami of mirin and spicy cloves on the tongue and nose.
