Expect a deep dive into Catania, the heart of Sicily, where old vine nero d'avola, frappato, grenache, vermentino and teeny amounts of catarratto reign. We'll get into elevation, soil structure, growing in the shadow of Mount Etna, and what's next for Sicily in the eyes of a young, exciting producer. It is always so wonderful to connect you directly to the maker to share their unique point of view, as we taste through their release with all context we could dream of. Come with your questions and curiosities!
Two free community tickets for BIPOC folks available for every Education Hour. Tickets are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another name.
More! Lamoresca was founded in 2000, by Simon's parents Fillipo and Nancy who returned to Fillipo's home town after living in Belgium and running one of the first natural wine focussed restaurant's outside of Paris. After gaining experience with the greats like Frank Cornelissen, Nancy and Fillipo settled between Etna and Vittoria, beginning with a plot of 46 ancient olive oil trees of the 'moresco' variety - the name was born! Since then, they have been producing expressive, rugged and characterful wines, we look forward to receiving all year. This is Simon's first trip to Canada!
