Triple-threat pack from BC darlings A Sunday in August!

Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon is a gauzy, luminescent white with notes of jasmine, orange Gatorade and oyster shell, while Cuvée Splash is the Sunny D of skin-contact Pinot Gris, fuzzy and fresh like mandarin orange meets peach iced tea. Rounding it out, is their first ever Pinot Noir Rosé, a flinty, strawberry-wrapped watermelon rind of a delicious summer banger.

Hard to imagine that this is A Sunday in August’s first ever rosé! Yet here we are, absolutely gobsmacked at this brisk, flinty take on a blushy summer wine, brought to you by winemaking maverick, Michael Schindler. Farmed from a single, dry-farmed organic vineyard in Peachland, BC, the grapes were destemmed and underwent a 2-day of semi-carbonic ferment, followed by 5 months in neutral oak and bottled without fining or filtration. Almost like your aunt rummaged through her bag for a candy and came up with the strawberry-wrapped one – sapid, stemmy & red-fruited with notes of tangerine, yuzu, watermelon rind, cranberry cocktail, prickly pear, white flowers and Tropicana orange mango juice without a lick of tannin. With only 240 cases made, this is a whiff of the west coast that we can’t get enough of, perfect to pair with a bag of chips for dinner.

If you haven’t heard Pepper Mashay’s iconic hit “Dive in the Pool (Let’s Get Soaking Wet” then Google it RIGHT NOW to get a handle on this supersoaker Pinot Gris from BC-based natural winery, A Sunday in August. You might be wondering, “Hey, where’s the Pinot Gris I’ve come to know and love?” Well, it’s almost gone – and this is the last year for fruit from that vineyard, so experience this fleeting, ephemeral treasure while you can! Naturally fermented with 5 days of semi-carbonic maceration, then aged and bottled without fining or filtration. Like Sunny D without the citrus, this zesty, slightly fuzzy orange wine drinks like a beachy postcard wishing we were there knowing full well that we’re not – mandarin orange and its leaves, red apple, raspberry, orange blossom and peach iced tea tannins. With only 100 cases made, this limited-edition wine is cannonballing straight into the pool, a memory of summer most fleeting.

The vibes are impeccable in this gauzy, luminescent white from Michael Schindler, the winemaking maverick behind Okanagan star, A Sunday in August. Farmed from a single, dry-farmed vineyard – a rarity in the Okanagan! – this texture-rich blend pairs the freshness of Sauvignon Blanc with the sophisticated richness of Semillon, a winning combo classically found in Bordeaux. Destemmed, wild fermented with whole berries and aged for 5 months in neutral oak, then bottled without fining or filtration. Budding and fresh like a sudden spring fling, think jasmine flower, white peach, ruby grapefruit, orange gatorade and Fuji apple with a pithy, salty, oyster shell finish like your sweaty, grass-stained self after a long day at the beach. With only 175 cases made, enjoy it while you can – by the dog bowl, by the beach, heck, even by the campfire as you whittle the night away.
