It's time for class! We are kicking off 2022 with a foundational session on everything natural wine. What is it, why you should care & how to find more once you've fallen in love. In this session, we'll go over the basics and talk through some of the trends and styles we're most excited about all while tasting four absolutely delicious wines.

Get a front-row seat to our obsession with Austrian winter whites, try an ancient Georgian grape aged in clay amphora, discover one of the Loire Valley's most special Cabernet Francs, and get familiar with orange wine all the way from Slovakia!

Plus, learn all the terminology you need to dive in headfirst to the world of natural wine. Ask any and all burning questions like: isn't all wine natural? What about vegan wine? How do I discover my taste profile? How do I pair wine with food? How long does natural wine last in the fridge? and more!

Here's what we'll be tasting:

Werlitsch 'Sauvignon Blanc' Styria, Austria
Ori Marani 'Nita' Saperavi, Igoeti, Georgia
Bobinet 'Amateus Bobi' Cabernet Franc, Loire Valley, France
Slobodne 'Oranzista' Pinot Gris, Trnava, Slovakia

Our favourite style of event! We love sharing the regions and producers that make us work in wine. For each Education Hour, we’ll focus on four wines as a way to explore a specific region, producer or theme. These wines will introduce us to the local grapes, climates, and top producers. Think of it like a ‘natural wine 101’ course, but way more cool and approachable than typical school. We’re all about accessibility and FUN. Please expect cute animal photos, memes and personal travel pics sprinkled throughout maps and tasting notes. You'll leave better equipped to navigate a wine list or wine shop with a better understanding of how to find the right wines for you.

There are two different ways to receive your wine for the tasting — in a Tasting Kit containing sealed pouches, or full bottles. The sealed pouches are a generous pour, samples are typically 3 ounces - more than half a glass! - so please feel free to share (or not 🙂). Full bottles are, of course, another great option perfect to share (or not 🙂). We work with beautiful natural wine from small, family producers, which is organically or biodynamically produced. All wine used is vegan. Because the wines we use do not use artificial chemicals and preservatives, they are best enjoyed over two days. We will email you which wines require a chill a few days before the session.

All Education Hours are run as a webinar aka even though you *always* look great you don't need to worry about being camera ready! The chat is always where it's at and we answer questions as we go. The more interactive these are the better!

Yay! We'll send you an email with the Zoom link and instructions one day prior to the event, including a note on which wines to chill. If you've ordered a Tasting Kit or full bottles, expect them to arrive at least one day prior to the event.

If you live in an M1-M9 postal code, or can pick-up from our shop at 1247 Dundas St W, you’re welcome to purchase the ‘tasting kit’ option, aka pouches! If you live outside of these zones, only full bottles are available for delivery so we can guarantee the best tasting experience for you. Regardless of where you live 'just listen' is a great and affordable option to follow along sans wine. With our link email we include a list of categories we will taste, which allows you to follow along with something similar wherever you are.

One of the best parts of Education Hour is sharing our favourite bottles and hidden gems. After each session we will send you a follow up email with the wines we tasted and a clickable link to purchase if you've fallen in love.
