A Cali sauv that tie dyes it’s undergarments to match the position of the moon. 5th generation Oakland native and 3rd generation winemaker, Chenoa Ashton-Lewis, along with cinematographer, Will Basanta, began their zero-zero wine project ‘Ashanta’ in 2019. Situated 30 miles east of the Pacific ocean in a unique horseshoe shaped valley, the vineyard sees warm afternoons, with cool, lightly foggy nights, helping the grapes achieve mouthwatering balance between sugar & acidity. A mixture of direct pressing and short n’ sweet skin contact, with 10 months of aging on lees, gives this sauvy b a supple texture you’ll have trouble forgetting about. Orange grove stroll, taking off a salty wetsuit, underripe apples & a chiseling mineral tone. Pairs well with fresh green flavours like radicchio salad & grilled zucchini.
