FAQ
Shipping, Pick-up & Ordering
We ship across Ontario and offer local delivery by courier in Toronto. Here’s how it works:
Local Delivery by Courier (Toronto)
- Deliveries run Monday to Friday with two delivery windows to chose from: 12-6 PM or 2-8 PM. At checkout, you can select the best delivery day and time window for your schedule, up to two weeks in advance.
- Someone of legal drinking age (19+) must be present to receive the order.
- One delivery attempt is included in your delivery fee. The courier will send delivery notifications to the recipient’s phone and email address. Please enter the receiver’s contact info in the shipping details. If you are the recipient, perfect. If not, we need their details so the delivery lands smoothly.
- If no one is available to receive the delivery, the order is returned to us.
- If the first attempt is unsuccessful due to customer details or availability (wrong address, missing buzzer, no one home/answers the courier during the selected window) the package will be available for pick up from our Dundas location. If you would like a second delivery attempt there is an additional charge, please get in touch at hello@grapewitches.com to co-ordinate this.
Ontario-Wide Shipping
- Shipping timelines vary by location, we generally can deliver your order in 3-5 days. You will receive tracking information on the day of your delivery from our shipping partner.
- We ship quickly, but delivery dates are not guaranteed.
- Remote areas may experience longer transit times.
If you are unsure which option is best, reach out. We are always happy to help you choose the smoothest path from our shelves to your door. If you’re looking for wine for a special occasion please give yourself ample time to ship. If you have a hard deadline, please let us know and we can pass on what is likely possible, but delivery dates are not guaranteed.
We offer free shipping for orders over $150 before tax in Toronto, and over $250 for the rest of Ontario.* This will automatically apply at checkout.
For orders that don't make the minimums, delivery within Toronto is $12, and across Ontario for $20.
* Although we will always do our best to offer free shipping when possible, customers in especially remote locations may be contacted for additional delivery fees.
Yes! Because wine likes (and legally needs) to be handed off responsibly, someone of legal drinking age (19+) needs to be home to receive and sign for the order. This keeps everything compliant and ensures your bottles land safely where they belong.
If the courier is not able to complete delivery, the order will be returned to us and an additional delivery fee will be applied for a second attempt. A little planning goes a long way toward a smooth wine arrival.
Toronto orders can be scheduled as soon as next day, or up to two weeks in advance, using the delivery booking tool at checkout. You can choose the day and time window that works best for you. Deliveries run Monday to Friday between 12–8 PM, and the courier sends tracking and delivery updates directly to the recipient’s phone and email.
For Ontario-wide orders, delivery timelines vary by location, but most orders will arrive within 3–5 business days. Remote areas may take longer.
We can’t guarantee shipping times outside of Toronto - we wish! - so please order early if you know you need your wine for a special occasion.
Please note our delivery partners do not deliver on the weekends.
Free pick-up is available at our Dundas location (1247 Dundas Street West) during regular hours. We will have your order ready in one business day at most, and very often sooner. You will receive an email when your order is ready. If you’re in a super rush and haven’t received an email, give us a call when you’re en route and we’ll try our best to assemble your order before you arrive: 416-546-2151. If you are picking up for someone else, please provide their name. For all pick ups, proof of purchase in the form of emailed order confirmation is required.
You are welcome to pick up anytime during our store hours:
12:00-10:00 PM Sunday - Thursday
12:00-11:00 PM Friday - Saturday
We LOVE sending gifts and we take the job very seriously. To make sure your bottles of joy arrive safely and without any delivery drama, in the shipping information please include:
- the recipient’s full name
- delivery address with any unit or buzzer details
- and their phone number and email.
The contact info is especially important so the courier can coordinate timing and keep everything moving smoothly.
One IMPORTANT request, even if it is a surprise:
Please let your recipient know a delivery is on the way so they can be home to receive it and sign for the order.
Wine surprises are fun. Missed deliveries are less fun & legally someone 19+ must be home to sign for alcohol.
Absolutely. You can add a gift note at checkout and we will include it with your order so your thoughtful words arrive right alongside the good stuff. Whether it is heartfelt, cheeky or mysterious, we’ll make sure it is lovingly written and included with your gift.
At checkout you will see a spot to leave an order note. This is the perfect place to share delivery tips like buzzer numbers, secret side doors or anything we need to know that will help your order arrive smoothly.
Sending a gift? Please include the recipient’s phone number and email so the courier can reach them if needed. A little detail goes a long way in getting the good stuff where it needs to go.
No! We never include a paper copy of your receipt to save as much paper as we can. You’ll automatically receive an itemized confirmation email receipt when you place your order.
We don’t include any printed notes directly in your order. We lovingly write detailed wine notes on each product page, and share these notes via email for Let Us Choose custom packs or Wine Club. Take a quick screenshot if you’d like to save these. If you ever are missing a note, send us an email and we can pass it along.
No, you do not need to add any additional food item to your order. We’ll automatically include a piece of candy because we love you (and it is legally required). That said, we do have lots of wild and wonderful food treasures online if you want to treat yourself a little extra.
Yes! We suggest first taking a look at our 2 and 3-packs; these are our curated and always changing wine combos that we put together based on our in-store favourites and the most popular wine moods.
Otherwise you can select the Let Us Choose option, where you can choose your price point and input your requests so we can work to make your wine dreams come true!
Have a more specific request that needs more hands-on help? You can always email us for more guidance on making selections at hello@grapewitches.com and we will get back to you within 2 business days.
About the Wines
A common misconception is that natural wines will spoil quickly. We carefully select every wine we offer. All wines we sell are good to store for 1-3 years, though the fresher styles are always best within a year or two. When storing wine, look for a cool-ish and dark-ish place. No fancy wine cellar? A closet will do! Avoid right-beside-the-radiator-or-fridge to avoid temperature fluctuations. If you’re keeping wine for more than a year, it’s best to get a simple wine rack that allows you to store wine on its side to prevent the cork from drying out. Some natural wines we work with can age 10+ years. If you’re seeking some true cellar gems, ask us and we can point you in the right direction or search our ‘age worthy’ tag.
We also want that wine back! As we work with small makers many with tiny production and once-a-year releases, our in-store and online stock is constantly changing. Love something and now it’s gone? Bummer! You can sign up for notifications on each product page to know when it's back - BUT something just as delicious will replace it and that fave will be back in a few months or with a new vintage. If you loved a bottle that’s gone and are looking for a replacement, let our staff know and they can recommend similar flavour profiles to find your new fave.
No! We only work with small, organic producers that are not at the LCBO. The LCBO is one of the world’s largest retailers - #3 after some huge UK supermarkets, the last time we checked! Imagine buying all your produce at Costco and then discovering farmers’ markets?! Welcome to the small production, flavourful and joyful revolution that is natural wine and finally legal bottle shops in Ontario. If you love interesting flavours and knowing your maker, natural wine is for you.
Yes! We only work with organic, biodynamic and natural wines made by producers we believe in. We include farming details on each product page.
It happens! We offer corked bottle exchange or credit from 3 months of purchase. Corks are a fantastic closure that allow wine to breathe just the right amount, but sometimes cork can be tainted by TCA, a compound that makes it smell and taste like a wet basement or an old pair of gym socks. Although not dangerous to drink, it certainly isn't pleasurable!
If your wine is corked please bring the full bottle (re-sealed with the original cork) into the shop with proof of purchase within 3 months of purchase and we’d be happy to exchange or replace it for you.
If you are ageing your wine more than a year, it should always be stored sideways so the cork can stay moist and be kept at as stable a temperature as possible (aka: closet or basement: yes!) right beside the radiator (no thank you!).
Policies
Not all natural wine is funky, but it can be! Many people adore this style, but it might not be for you. To help you find your funky sweet spot, we’ve labelled all of our wines 1-5 on our Freaky Scale with 1 being the most classic and 5 being the most other-worldly. We recommend starting with a 1 or 2 and working your way up to see if you like these flavours.
Sometimes a wine’s freakiness can be mistaken as cork taint - if you believe your wine is corked (has a musky and flat taste), please bring it to the shop within 3 months of purchase with your proof of purchase. Any corked bottles at least 2/3rds full are eligible for a replacement bottle, or store credit of equal value.
If the wine is correct, but not to your liking, we’re happy to help you find something right up your alley, but cannot offer an exchange. Have questions? Our experienced staff is always here to guide you.
To learn more about natural wine and cork taint, check out our ‘About the Wines’ section above.
Wine is a living, expressive product and part of the adventure is discovering what styles you love most. While we do our best to guide you using our Freaky Scale and staff recommendations, taste is personal and sometimes a bottle just is not your thing. All wine and retail purchases are final sale.
For in-store purchases, we are happy to offer exchanges within 30 days if the item is unopened, in resalable condition, and you have proof of purchase. Our team is always glad to help you swap for something that better fits your palate.
We are not able to offer refunds, but we promise to do our best to point you toward your next favourite bottle. If you are unsure, curious, or feeling adventurous, just ask. Guiding you to your perfect level of classic to freaky is kind of our thing. For full details, please review our Refund Policy here.
Ordering online is a little like sending your future self a surprise, and we want it to be a good one. If something you ordered is not quite the right fit, we offer exchange only for online purchases within 30 days, with proof of purchase. Items must be unopened and in resalable condition so they can safely head back onto our shelves and find their next happy home. For full details, please review our Refund Policy here.
If your order has shipped, online exchanges are subject to a $25 restocking fee, and original delivery fees are not refundable. You can return the bottle to our Dundas location in person, or with your own delivery method. Our team is always glad to help you choose a better match if you are unsure what to exchange for. When in doubt, reach out. We are here to help you land on a bottle or product you will feel great about.
Although we work hard to ship quickly and accurately, mistakes can happen. If there is ever an error on our end, please let us know right away and we will work with you toward a resolution as quickly as possible.
Our events are small, special, and carefully planned. All event ticket purchases are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded. If your plans change, no stress. We are happy to accommodate a name change on your ticket so a friend can enjoy the experience in your place. Just reach out to us ahead of the event and we will take care of the switch.
Celebrating a big win (hooray!), your staff really knocking it-out-of-the-park or the holiday season (never too early! ;)? We always stock between 200-300 bottles of incredible wine from bubbles galore to hard to find gems, and approachable 3-packs. Want something SUPER special? We have some of the most talented wine people in the city ready to curate custom gifts.
Reach out to us at hello@grapewitches.com and we can help sort out the all the details.
For larger orders, we’ll need delivery info and date requests at least one week in advance but will do our absolute best if you’re in a pinch.
We love to host you! From intimate gatherings to birthday bashes to full buyouts we are here to help plan a good party. Please inquire with as much notice as possible to avoid disappointment. We require at least two weeks notice for all event bookings. We cannot wait to celebrate with you!
