An opulent, balanced and complex, vin de liqueur macvin. A delicately sweet and savoury scene-stealing chardonnay that shivers with autumnal activity. For the first time in Ontario, after a lengthy courting ritual, GWI is ECSTATIC to welcome Les Bottes Rouge to Ontario! Winemakers Jean-Baptiste Menigoz and Florien Kleine Snuverink are simply the sweetest duo, working together for almost a decade to produce distinguished, vibrant and whole-hearted representations of the region from their gently-tended grapes. FUN FACT! Arbois was the first French wine appellation (AOC), established in 1936! Made from chardonnay grown on limestone and clay, ‘Kilt’ is made in the regional style of macvin, here that means that 2/3 is direct pressed chardonnay juice, while 1/3 is an eau de vie marc – a distillation of the skins, seeds and pulp leftover after pressing (think CONCENTRATION!)! Triumphant golden raisin, roasted grapes, treasure chest, hibiscus blooms, sesame snaps meets buckwheat pancake, fall honey in black tea, caramelized parsnips, overripe apples on warm ground, rhubarb acidity & a pearly texture with a maple wash ending. Enjoy after a water fowl rich meal, while watching the Highland Games.
