Oriol Artigas is a kind and radical force coming out of the Spanish natural wine scene. He works with old vineyards, little intervention & sandy soils in coastal Alella – a little-known and petite appellation north of Barcelona, tousled by the Mediterranean. After devastating mildew wiped out nearly ALL of Oriol’s harvest, he reached out for help, and the ‘SOS’ wines are a product of the fruit purchased from his many grower friends throughout Catalonia. 100% spiced, and lightly-structured trepat from Mariona Vendrell and Albert Canela of Succés Vinícola’s Borrells vineyard. The 13-year-old vines are planted on red sandy-clay soils, fermented whole cluster with 7-8 days of gentle maceration, bringing us to this light-as-a-feather tannin-ed stunner. Crunchy VA (volatile acidity) that shows as pleasing, lifted, crunchy acidity, savoury spices, snappy herbs, cracked Earth from an evaporated pond, leafy musk, elderberry, pink plum & concrete after rain. Enjoy with escargot and stuffed mushrooms.
