Marsanne, Northern Rhône, France

An uncommon single varietal, Marsanne is often blended with its star-crossed lover Rousanne (among others), however, here we see what Marsy is capable of solo. Sisters Lucie and Nancy have been steering this ship together since 2013, Lucie was a young vigneronne, who in 2006 took over 3.5 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage from her parents, seemingly awaiting the day that Nancy came to join the grape party. A heartwarming mediterranean climate climbs across the estates 10ha of organic (since 2006) vines. From 40 yearr old Marsanne vines on clay-loam over limestone soils, the Northern Rhone is their homeland and possibly where they express in their truest, most luxuriously weighty form. A brilliant, finely golden colour, with sweet orange blossom, galangal, quince honey, broom & marzipan. Serve with pork jowl terrine & compound butter on toast.
