Alright listen up this is NOT your typical Syrah - we are defying expectations and chasing away stereotypes with every sip. Winemaker Jurgen Gouws is truly on his low-intervention game, letting nature take the lead and listening intently to the seasons and their needs. Autumn? Soil nutrition. Winter? Pruning. Spring? Friendly cover crops arrive. Summer? Time for the grapes to be handpicked, whole-bunch fermented for 10-days semi-carbonically, and then transferred to old barrels for 10 months of ageing. A satisfying, but juicy, herbal, delightfully fruit-forward ruby of a wine that would really, really like to be served with a hearty bbq-filled plate with a heap of charred veg. Like pomegranate juice riding an old saddle dripping down your fingers, slurp it up!
