Slarina is an ancient Piedmontese grape that almost went extinct after it was outlawed due to inconsistent yields and with a hectare and a half of it, he jokes “I am the most important producer of Slarina in the world.” Made here in the traditional style in concrete vats and large oak barrels, bottled unfined, unfiltered and with a minute dose of sulphur. Vibrantly red-fruited with an herbaceous tint and a slightly lower ABV – cherry, citrus marmalade, blood orange peel, bouquet garni & a whiff of peppery baking spice, followed by a luminescent acid. Drink outside under Edison bulbs on the first warm night after a long winter with the temperate breeze tickling your bare skin.
