Bugey’s topography could be described as a gathered, mountainous relief in the southern extension of the Jura massif (mountain range), housing a patchwork of terroirs. Here, Yves Duport biodynamically farms 12 hectares of stunnin. . .

‘L’imprevue’ means ‘the unexpected’, and this gorgeous pinot noir certainly defied ours. Bugey’s topography could be described as a gathered, mountainous relief in the southern extension of the Jura massif (mountain range), housing a patchwork of terroirs. Here, Yves Duport biodynamically farms 12 hectares of stunning, inherited vines with a massive respect for mother nature. Fermented with daily punchdowns and 10 months of aging in barrel produces an ample texture and tannin structure. Tender rosemary undergrowth, decorative cranberry chains, liquor-steeped morello cherries, forest bathing (but less Gwyneth Paltrow, more Euell Gibbons!), mineral tension, slimy wet mushrooms underneath a shedding wild plum tree & tobacco leaf-like silky tannin. Enjoy alongside duck confit parmentier.
