A blurry eyed, late summer hazed day, spent fading in and out of napping & snacking. Winemaker Mike Schindler began A Sunday in August in 2017 with a love and commitment to fermenting exciting, natural wines – swiftly developing a devoted following, especially in the BC wine community. These certified organic grapes are grown at the Lilypond vineyard in Okanagan Falls. Destemmed, whole grapes undergo three days of carbonic maceration (aka fermentation happens within each grape) which helps soften the tannins & bring yummy fruit flavours to the forefront. Followed by five months in neutral oak barrels to meld & relax into itself. Minimally affected by the forest fires in the Okanagan, this wine has a roasted grape granita vibe, dune herbs, white cherry spritz & dusty purple rose petals. Pair with Wednesday night’s assorted charcuterie & medium-funky cheeses.
