Tragically, legendary vigneron Lucien Aviet passed away earlier this year but he’s succeeded by his son Vincent, who is building on his father’s legacy with further experiments in the vineyard. From 50-year-old vines, these Savagnin grapes were hand-harvested and immediately pressed into casks to ferment, followed by four years of oxidative ageing under a layer of flor. This is the same process to make Vin Jaune, the region's famed, immortal super savoury delicacy that spends 6 years and 3 months aging. This little sibling has the power and singularity of a true Vin Jaune with an easier-to-drink, silkier mouthfeel. Rich, intoxicating & unpretentiously grandiose with savoury notes of candied lemons, golden raisins, orange pith, fresh morels & even a whiff of hops. A real treasure, remember to decant & raise a glass to Lucien’s memory, just as he would’ve wanted.
