Muscat a Petit Grain, Muscat d’Alexandria, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

Muscat a Petit Grain, Muscat d’Alexandria, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
A sneaky treat review from the legend Jancis Robinson states, “cloudy gold with a faint touch of pink, the wine smells absolutely extraordinary. The perfume soars out the glass on angels' wings, transcendent…It changes, iridescent as a dragonfly, every time I lift the glass to my nose”. Well f*ck. Winemaker Francois Xavier (FX if you like), worked with Tom Lubbe at Domaine Matassa for five years and spent a further year with Domaine Danjou-Banessy learning all the low-intervention ropes before unleashing his own stellar wines upon our senses. A 50/50 mash up of the herbed and spiced muscat a petit grain and the limitless aromatics of muscat d’alexandria – like Dua Lipa & Elton John, this pairing is simply meant to be. One month of whole maceration for each grape, with the petit grain done in stainless steel to really push the aromatics, and the alexandria spending time in amphora to turn the tannins into taut silken ribbons. Orange oil, decaying white lilies, spiced quince loaf, lime cordial, sandalwood sawdust, condensed cantaloupe cider & a pocket full of stones. Enjoy with your full attention, reading glasses on, this one can really teach you a thing or two.
