Situated just outside Verona, in the Morainic Hills near Lake Garda, ‘Vini Sassara’ is a fresh project from longtime natural winemakers Alessia and Stefano Bertaiola. With a background in agricultural research and development, Alessia joined forces with third-generation winemaker Stefano. Together they work a 10 hectare organic site that has been in Stefano’s family for 50 years. From their calcareous soil hideaways and three days of maceration, we get this perky & fetching treat. A mix or ‘misia’ of lean-n-salty garganega, with balancingly-acidic trebbiano and ultra-rare tocai. Cool serenity and seabed salinity, juicy peach on a stone, ripe citrus core & some cheeky mango. Pour alongside lakeside afternoons & dancing to The Talking Heads.
