Weingut Nusserhof is located in the capital city of Bolzano in Alto Adige, in the north-eastern corner of Italy along the Austrian border. Family-owned since at least 1788, Heinrich and Elda Mayr work 2.4 hectares of organic, local Italian varieties around their home, which has quickly become surrounded by the rapidly expanding city around them (to wit, Nusserhof means ‘nut farm,’ a reference to walnut trees that used to line the roads before being cut down for bike paths). Made from just 10 rows of 30 year old vines with extremely low yields, this Teroldego is 30% whole cluster and aged in used Burgundy barrels (rather than their usual French botti) and bottle for around five years. Lustrous & savoury black fruit, alpine earth, cherry cola, tart blackperry preserves & Dutch liquorice etched in rough relief in No. 2 pencil. Pair with meat wrapped in meat and Queen Latifah in Last Holiday.
