In Arriana’s words, Sicily’s great red grape Nero D’Avola “has something noble and aristocratic, but also melancholy like a poet or a philosopher”. We will trust and meditate on everything she says until the day we die #Ariana4President. After schooling and studying under her winemaking uncle (one of the founding members of COS) Ariana began her own label, and the world of Italian natural wines has never been the same. From 35 year old vines grown on sandy-calcareous soils, we have a light but serious wine-drinking affair sitting before us. Grapes spend 25 days macerating on their skins before developing depth and complexity from 22 months in Slavonian oak barrels. Earth oven, smoked pencil shavings, sour cherry surprise, monreale white plums, fennel juice & pomegranate from the beginning of the Earth. Pour with 24 hour lamb stews & short stories by Miranda July.
