‘Muratorino’ means bricklayer in Italian, and what a solid foundation this true labour of love is! Mario Siragusa is a truck driver, a lover of fermentation & quite possibly one of the most interesting things to be happening in ALL of Italy. A really lovely article about Mario and his wines said, “Mario Siragusa's wine became an obsession after he gave us a little reused beer bottle sealed with half a cork, containing a wine he made by crushing the grapes with his hands whilst they were attached to the vine; like milking a cow he told us”. If that doesn’t peak your interest then I’m afraid we may never be friends. Due to a severe frost during the trees’ flowering time in 2021, there were no apples, so Mario had to travel a little further south in order to bring us this tasty morsel. Made from Dallinette, Staimer & Ontario apples (it was meant to be ;), this sunny sparkling was fermented in bottle before being disgorged during a crescent moon and topped up with unfermented juice to keep the fermentation going and the cider dry. Wafting mountainous herbs and steep sloping forests, with spice mill accents, rushing bubbles & mouthwatering salinity. Drink slowly & with worthy patriots as this cider opens up to expose its sleek underbelly. #VivaIlSidro!
