A chasmic glimpse into all that is good and golden coming out of Canadian winemaking. Partners Keenan Thrussell and Zoë Jacoe are two of the most driven, generous & talented farmers + winemakers in BC’s infant natural wine scene. Working out of Keenan’s organic family winery (of which he has been the head winemaker since 2013), the core of this project is a love of exploration through minimal intervention (or none!). Always purchasing (the slowly disappearing) pristine organic fruit from local farmers & doing as little as possible to them. From a 1/4 acre plot where an experiment with sprayed aloe extract as a means to protect against fungus and mildew is taking place – and as an added bonus, it boosts the immune systems of the vines! The lusty syrah & cutting viognier (a blend first appearing in the northern Rhone Valley) together in their tense alliance are like viewing a simultaneous sunrise and sunset. Seeing a co-maceration for 10 days before being pressed off the skins brings their undeniable union into the light. An animalistic tug at your lizard brain, cascading wisteria blossoms, olive leaf tannins, sassafras, black plumcots, haskap berries, scraggily lake brush & well rooted Earth. Drink over the course of a few hours and watch as this wine opens and undulates before your very tastebuds.
