A wildly quaffable zero-zero red–white (together at last!) from cult natural winemaker – and former founder of Bar Brutal – Antony Tortul! At a chill 10% ABV with a diaphanous bod, ‘Atavisme Retrouve’ is technically a red but it drinks like a hefty rosé – thus a great candidate to drink COLD! Thus one of our favourite styles to drink EVERYDAY & FOREVER! Originally from Ariège with a conventional oenology background, Antony changed tack after witnessing a devastating fertilizer factory explosion that killed 31 and injured thousands in his nearby Toulouse. He moved immediately away from the chemical industry towards wines that were connected to the land and place, establishing his project in 2008 from his dad’s garage. Now he makes some of the most distinctly punk rock wines we can imagine – no additions, no subtractions, but instead plenty of screeching personality! Antony often uses grape varieties you’ve never heard of, so let us introduce you to this 50-50 blend of citrusy terret bourret gris and inky aramon (50%). In the past they were thought of as simple table wines for simple people, but here they’re out to prove how much they’ve got to offer the wine world. Open a bottle and get a redemption story redolent of ground cherries, damson plums, the mother bear’s secret stash of blackcurrants, greenhouse atmosphere, dive bar jalapeño poppers, grown-out roots, early aughts belly button piercing & songs by Hole.
