A chiffon textured and saline, Austrian blanc de noir pet-net. Gernot and Heike Heinrich’s 100+ hectares are farmed (certified) biodynamically in the municipality of Gols, Burgenland, stocked with sheep, ducks, hens, and beehives! Their lineup is teasingly diverse, with a through line of finesse and spirit. This highly aromatic and root-y st. laurent was grown on mica schist – which holds onto and releases heat at night, and is noted in helping to bring grapes to ripeness in a complexity developing sorta way – and direct pressed to avoid colour and tannic extraction. Brass toned, rose hip hydrosol spritz, nashi pear acidity, arrogant apricot (but it’s justified, and we’re into it), hay patch, smidgens of spice, creamy bubbles & topped with a few grains of salt. Don’t make a fuss, this one is a classy, Saturday afternoon delight.
