An aromatic, salty and wholly Portuguese volcanic TREAT! Worldly winemaker Antonio Maçanita works to capture the essence of regional terroir and traditions through the grapes that move him. Home to unique, black volcanic basalt soils, the Azores is a Portuguese archipelago where wine has been made since the 15th century when it was introduced by Franciscan friars. A regional blend of berried, rare malvarisco, cherried bastardo, earthy rufete, mineral saborinho, smoky agronómica, spiced aragonês, herbaceous castelão and vibrant, tannic touriga nacional, plus more! The grapes were left 30% whole bunch, with the remaining 70% destemmed and left on skins for between 25-30 days, then aged for 30 months between an even split of wood barrels and stainless steel tanks. Cherry blossoms, smoked strawberry, sweet spices, raisin flavoured blow pop, chalky minerality and tactility & salty sea vegetables meets scrubby herbs. Chill down and pour alongside braised lamb shank.
