An illustrious langhe nebbiolo for Barolo and barbaresco lovers on a Tuesday, and a deep treat for the rest of us any dang day of the week. Winemakers Diego and son Stefano work 7.5 hectares of organic vineyards together, their goal to give liquid form to the best parts of Monforte d'Alba: structure, texture, minerality & longevity. The ‘Baluma’ is grown on a mix of clay, tuff and calcareous marl (the main soil type in the Piedmont wine region of Italy), macerated for 8-10 days to pull fortifying structure, before six months in oak. Strawberry balsamic, rose bud, cherry cola, slick tar & thyme shrub tannins bring the towering fruit down to eye level. Enjoy with a light chill, saucy ribs, autumn’s best acorn squash & impressing the room.
