Bodegas Barbadillo is a family winery with 200 years of history in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) with a particular reverence for the lands and waters of Andalusia, Spain. A new addition to their portfolio, this Manzanilla comes from 30-year-old vines from two albariza soil vineyards (SOIL FACT! Albariza is a light, white soil that contains between 30 and 80 per cent chalk, and has similar characteristics to the soil in Chablis and Champagne!), which have been certified organic for over 15 years. Aged in a solera that was started in 2020, and bottled straight from the cask, this is a fresh, grape-FORWARD style of Manzanilla. FUN FACT! ‘Salicornia’, ‘pickleweed’, or ‘sea asparagus’ is the name of a wild, salty and gently bitter succulent that grows in the salt marshes and salt flats off the coast of Cadiz! A clear morning, mixed olives, the zests of many citruses, green apple juice with apple skin bitters, heaps of salt, iodine-rich sea vegetables & a light leesy tone. Enjoy with a cool dip of any kind in your skimpiest bathing attire, be that a lake, an ocean, or a kiddy pool.
