Tenuta San Marcello began in 2008 with the partnership of Massimo Palmieri and Pascale Marquet. Their initial venture was cooked up as an agriturismo, before their aim shifted to the production of low-intervention, locally-minded wines. Their lands were formed by marine sedimentation, and really break their way through the palette with ease, adding refreshing minerality. Lacrima, a deep coloured, but shockingly fresh regional grape is aged on lees for six months, primarily in stainless steel, with 20% in Georgian amphora for a richer texture. Intense violets, rosy perfume, bitter hit, inky balsamic, pink pepper, sour cherries forever, spiced kalamata olive & cypress branches. Try alongside someone’s nonna’s famous meatballs or aged salami.
