The Ott family has been farming grapes in Wagram for over a century, now led by fourth-generation Bernhard, a biodynamic diehard who was once approached by the EU for what they thought was an accounting mistake – over 100,000€ of manure used in a single year! ‘Am Berg’ means ‘from the mountain,’ which is apt for this light, glistening white with minerality like a mountain stream. Fermented and aged in steel, this is pure, fresh-faced refreshment – honey-drizzled green apple, lemon pith, white pepper and a chalky, acid-driven finish. Angular, austere and aching for a good time.
