A crisp, green-flecked & delicate zero-zero white wonder from a resolute Catalonian winemaker! Ferran Lacruz organically and biodynamically farms 8 hectares of vines in his homeland of Penedes. Sometimes he leans experimental, but here he’s gone polished & oh-so-pretty. ‘Blanc Malvat’ is made from textured malvasia de sitges – a real wine-person’s grape – that reminds us of a poem . . .

A crisp, green-flecked & delicate zero-zero white wonder from a resolute Catalonian winemaker! Ferran Lacruz organically and biodynamically farms 8 hectares of vines in his homeland of Penedes. Sometimes he leans experimental, but here he’s gone polished & oh-so-pretty. ‘Blanc Malvat’ is made from textured malvasia de sitges – a real wine-person’s grape – that reminds us of a poem by Barbara Guest. Colours often break themselves into separate hues of noisetone. In a Barcelona cabaret when green is overtaken, it is stirred into the mint colour of drink, she writes. Is that NOT this wine? IT IS THIS WINE. It’s lime peel, crenshaw melon, peas shelled by friends on the stoop, a collection of flat stones from the Leslie Spit (how we’ll use them who knows but this one looks like your toe). Try it with something, anything – like an empanada or a fish skewer – that’s just a vehicle for bracingly green chimichurri.
