An ensemble cast of absolute characters make up this lithe & lilting white-red blend, aka “blouge,” from Loire Valley’s Saumur region. We are proudly biased in our love for all things by vigneron Sebastien Bobinet (a vigneron since childhood!), and winemaker Emeline Calvez (a former professional dancer turned sommelier turned winemaker!) and we danced at our desks hearing that they’d be dropping ‘Ipanema’ in Ontario for the first time. Drinking its juicy, peppery & supremely sprightly organic mix of chenin blanc, cab franc, grolleau and pineau d’aunis is like watching the ballet from the stage wings. See the fast feet, the back strength invisible to even the expensive seats & the palpable tension in the pas de deux up close! The kinetics so near it is as though in one blink YOU are the lifted one, the pirouetting one, the splits-in-the-air one! FUN FACT! The labels come in different colours because why settle for one look? After aging in stainless steel to keep it airy and fresh, ‘Ipanema’ is giving raspberry CBD gummy, strawberries romanoff, boutonnière, ambient farmers’ market smell & unsolicited cartwheel demonstration.
