The government of Canada says drink Canadian, and who are we to stand in their way! While we will yell to anyone who will listen about the gaping issues of our inter-provincial trade laws (consumers can buy wines direct, but restaurants get taxed 73% on anything that crosses a provincial border???), progress is slowly being made for a true Canadian wine scene and we couldn’t be more jazzed. A top flag bearer for Prince Edward County is winemaking icon Drea Scotland, who’s known for transforming Ontario hybrid grapes (aka North American grapes and their old school crossings) into unfathomably fun elixirs. Here she hath gifted us with this verdant, spry & savoury blend of L’Acadie Blanc & Seyval Blanc – her first white wine to date. With all of the wine’s granny smith & touch grass business, drinking it will remind you that every pore on an emerald leaf is a little mouth that drinks air and you will wonder, what does that make me? Drea says ‘Eva’ can steal the role of the pre-dinner martini, but it would also be delightful with fresh-caught flatfish (starry flounder, anyone?) and herb-laden, Ontario veg.
