Enter Famille Dutraive, a negociant project co-owned with Jean-Louis’ children, Justin, Ophélie and Lucas, committed to sourcing solely organic fruit, which makes up less than 4% of the grapes in Beaujolais. Sourced from three plots of vines ranging from 60-70 years old, whole bunch fermented with wild yeasts in concrete, aged in a combination of tank and old barrels for 6 months, and bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulphur. The texture of violin string with a plummy depth and notes of cherry pit, boysenberry cola, smoked maldon, rained on earth, cracked pepper, rubbed roses & thyme, followed by a spiced, gently tannic finish. Remarkable in freshness and sheer attitude, pair this with Délice de Bourgogne and fried green tomatoes on liver mousse.
