If you come into Grape Witches and ask for help selecting a bottle, one of the first thing we'll ask is some version of what TEXTURE are you looking for? Think: lean, broad, crunchy, chewy, creamy, velvety, spicy, or stewed. This is no accident. In traditional wine, we spend SO much time identifying aromas and flavours, but so much of the experience of a wine comes down to how a glass FEELS. Put another way, imagine a sweater. Think: cashmere vs. terry cloth vs wool. We can talk about colour, and cut all we want, but the material's feeling is one of the most critical elements to understand what it will feel like to put that on.
Wine is so similar, and in this fun and interactive class we'll ask (often): what do you TASTE and how does it FEEL?
We'll start with the basics like the impact of acid, alcohol, sugar and tannin, and end with the tools to understand and ask for your ideal vibe. We'll also touch on vine age, harvest decisions, minerality, soil, vessels, yeast, and flor, as they impact a wine's FEELING.
Join us for this unique and interesting way to better understand your palate and ask for what you want! Along the way, we'll sip 4 interesting and delicious wines from around the world.

This Education Hour is seated and takes place in our Salon, on the second floor of our shop, located at 1247 Dundas Street West. Please note all event tickets are non-refundable.
Unfortunately this event is not accessible as it is located on the second floor and there are no elevators. There are gender neutral bathrooms on site and we will provide water and spitoons.
