Elio Altare was an early maverick in Barolo who bucked tradition in favour of modern techniques like lower yields, green harvesting & the use of French oak, all in an effort to raise the quality of the region’s already prestigious wines. Others have since followed suit and his daughter Silvia now leads the legendary winery, here with this showstopping Barolo that only recently was labelled Riserva despite the wine always being made the same way – 24 months in a third new oak with an additional two years in bottle before release. Darker, spicier and powerfully aristocratic with a dense, luscious texture and velveteen gloss. Wild, brambly fruit, clove-studded blood orange, blackberry preserves, an immense presence in the mouth, whiffs of menthol & black liquorice with bricky, red tannins. Break out the decanter, play ‘Libiamo ne’ lieti calici’ at ear-splitting volume & let yourself be serenaded by the many stories this incredibly complex wine has to offer.

For Toronto Orders (M Postal Code) that are placed before 8 pm will arrive within 1 to 2 days. Our courier delivers between 12 - 5pm Mon-Fri and sends tracking. We do not offer same day delivery on Fridays.
If you would like your item delivered on a certain day, please let us know at checkout.
For Ontario-wide orders, delivery will vary depending on the location but will take an average of 5 business days, or longer depending on remote locations.
We can’t *guarantee* shipping times outside of Toronto - we wish! - so please order early if you know you need your wine for a special occasion. Please note our delivery partners for Ontario do not deliver on the weekends.
