A rare, single vineyard, and vintage, salty and CONCENTRATED manzanilla sherry. The LORE: In 2005, a group of sherry lovers led by a wine writer and a criminology professor discovered some forgotten butts of an exceptionally rare, 20-year-old Amontillado in Sanlúcar. They bought a single cask for themselves, bottling it as ‘Navazos n°1’, and since then, their hobby has grown into one of the most exciting projects in Spain, with the team discovering and releasing small, chronologically numbered cuvées of fortified wines, PLUS more recently, brandy, unfortified palomino, PX wines, and even a Cava with flor! FUN FACT! No 131 is the same wine that was previously bottled as La Bota de Florpower 114 MMXXI (vintage 2021), as they reserved some of that wine to be fortified and aged as manzanilla, A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT! Harvested in 2021 from vineyards in the Pago Miraflores La Baja, the wine sees one year ageing under flor before being fortified and then aged in Sanlúcar de Barrameda for almost three years, culminating in a bounty of 3,900 bottles. Almond picking, chamomile, sharp underripe peach, yellow raisin, walnut shells, salt n’ spice, puffball mushroom, chalk & a stylish weight, like layers of raw silk. Enjoy with Korean BBQ’d octopus, crayfish and pork shoulder.
