A glacially driven hybrid field blend full of florals and fit for fancy fun. Austrian winemakers Eduard and Stephanie have become stars of the natural wine scene, and if you’ve ever tried their wines, you know it’s for good reason. Their ethos is centred around showcasing PLACE over anything else, so much so that sometimes they don’t even tell you the name of the grapes to eliminate any assumptions! For the first time in Ontario, meet Eugenie! From Piwi (aka hybrid) variety vines planted in their pristine, own rooted, horse-ploughed ‘wine garden’ in 2018. The grapes are macerated for three days and aged in old barrels for 10 months leapfrogging over one another’s complexities into infinity. Wet reduction, sour florals, snowcapped, tip of the glacier minerality, soaked yellow raisin & a chunky chalk grip that gives way to unshakable lightness. Enjoy while dipping your own beeswax candles, new year, new passion project!
