A gorgeous honeycomb and citrus forward Grower Champagne from a careful grower on special soils. Moussé is run by fourth generation winemaker Cedric Moussé in the small vilage of Cuisles. Since 1750 his family has grown grapes on the region’s thick band of green clay known as ‘’Illite’ that gives pinot meunier a unique lift, texture and complexity on full display here. FUN FACT! This clay is also used in cosmetics for its oil-absorbing and detroxifying properties! His Eugène release is a blanc de noir, or a white champagne made of red grapes, 80% pinot meunier and 20% pinot noir. 70% of the grapes come from the 2022 harvest, while the remaining 30% are pulled from the estate’s ‘perpetual reserve’, which contains a blend of wines from 2003 to 2021 and adds layers and a house style. Beyond organic farming, Cedric is also committed to sustainability throughout his property, with solar panels and geothermal energy powering the project. Fresh pastry, underripe Bosc pear with a creamy savoury texture and charming savoury minerality.
