A spicy, zesty and textured volcanic Hungarian white for fawning over. Hungarian expat Róbert Gilvesy returned to his homeland from the Canadian farm he grew up on to begin building the Gilvesy winemaking kingdom – and look at him now! The breathtaking region is shaped by six million year old volcanoes (!) creating powerfully textured wines. FUN BARREL FACTS! Aging is carried out in Kádár Hungary barrels made from the tight grained oak forests of northern Hungary, here the wood is exposed to more wind and rain creating the moulds and enzymes that transform the wood during the air-drying process – PLUS it is said that they carry more spice, and impart less sweetness than the traditional French barrel, with a relatively low direct perceptible barrel impact all around! White pear, lime zest and pristine green apple meld into fruity unison, a fierce spiciness, lemon custard, lees, hawthorn & a jagged, volcanic minerality. Try with soup dumplings!
