A gently structured and curiously citric amphora-aged Austrian orange to liven up any afternoon. Gernot and Heike Heinrich’s 100+ hectares in the municipality of Gols, Burgenland are farmed certified biodynamically since 2006, and stocked with sheep, ducks, hens, and beehives! Their lineup is teasingly diverse, with a through line of finesse and spirit achieved through minimal intervention in the cellar. ‘Naked Orange’ is a blend of mineral chardonnay, plush pinot blanc, spiced gewürztraminer, aromatic muscat ottonel and tree-fruity pinot gris grown on both shores of the famed Lake Neusiedl. The grapes spent two weeks on the skins and 18 months between amphora and large oak barrels to build a network between one another, and emerge a buzzing metropolis of texture, aroma and flavour. Blood orange bitterness, rose hips, guava jam, woody structure, mandarin flavoured Jarritos, lemon peel, sprinkled white pepper & a star anise decoction.
