With a focus on terraces of the local treasure, sangiovese, I Fabbri is located in Lamole, also known as the "roof" of the Chianti Classico region. Their sandstone-stuffed land is surrounded by cooling forests, and sits amongst the highest in the region. The Grassi family has been working the land since the 1600s, or 11 generations, with current winemaker Susanna Grassi taking over in 2000 after returning home from a career working in fashion in Brussels – you CAN have it all! Gradually she converted everything, olive groves included, to certified organic, began using renewable energy, as well as implementing manual harvest and low intervention in the cellar. Today, her wines are prized around the world. The sangio grows on one of their highest plots at 630 meters above sea level, and is fermented and aged in a cement tank for 12 months. Perfectly ripe strawberries that are red all the way through, trampled flowers, iodine, tossed earth, anise, sage brush and roast chicken herbs, blackcurrant, tobacco wrapped tannins & trailing tomato vine. Pour today alongside beef carpaccio or keep in the cellar for a few moons and open while rewatching your favourite fashion designer documentary – Franca: Chaos and Creation (2016), Invisible Beauty (2023), Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist (2018), Dior and I (2014), The True Cost (2015), Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards (2017), Dries (2017) or The Gospel According to André (2017).
