Winemaker Jas Swan is a globetrotter, openminded creative, vocal supporter of the queer community & proud part of the new wave of natural German wine. Her wines gallop freely like a wild herd, playing with sensory experience, macerations, low alcohol, affordability & evocative character. BEHIND THE NAME! ‘Heks’ means witch in Norwegian (and dutch, and a few other languages) a name reflecting the power and at the same time misfortune of being a woman in a male dominated industry! The blend of 30 to 50 year-old vines is grown on clay, limestone and slate-y soils, and includes soft, berried regent and plush, punchy pinot blanc both carbonically macerated, combined with direct-press piercing riesling like an arrow through our hearts and we’re IN LOVE. The final wine is aged for six months to combine their powers and emerge this all encompassing GEM. Ripe strawberry and sour cherry hold our attention, deep cave, deep space expansion, rose hips, green sprouts, and mineral muscles. Tannins are warm and light with orange peel & sleek papaya.
