Founded in 1974 and located in the village of Rotalier at the southern edge of the Jura, the estate today is run by siblings Julien, Charline and Romain, who are continuing the important work of their parents, Alain and Josie, with the utmost finesse and respect. The Labet’s organically farm their 14 hectares, which are divided into 45 uniquely significant micro-parcels of (mainly) old vines. The gamay vines range from 9-61 years-old and are planted in silty, clay-rich soils on a bathonian (Jurassic period) limestone base, picked by hand and carbonically macerated for 11 days to lift, before seven months in old Burgundy barrels to ground. Thimbleberry puree, violet-tinged VA (volatile acidity), strawberry shortcake pop, mountain cave minerality, black truffle, aerial silks texture & liquorice mint. Enjoy with black pudding, squid ink pastas or morcilla.
