Pinot Noir, Burgundy, France
An impeccable, nuanced and earth-bound pinot noir. Today he works as a negociant (grape buyer, not grower) under the Laisse Tomber label, where he is able to experiment consistently, sourcing grapes from diverse regions like Savoie, Burgundy, Alsace and Baden, Germany. FUN FACT! Bastian’s brother Christoph's natural wine label is the ever-tasty Germany star Wasenhaus! The uncertified biodynamic pinot noir vines were planted in 1890 (!), and after being picked by hand are whole cluster carbonically macerated for 2-3 weeks, then aged in old barrels for 10-18 months building complexity. Strawberries in the pasture, green and woody spices dressed in fleshy cherry overcoats, sandy tannins that snag and snatch & the wink of someone truly looking out for you. Enjoy while writing a confessional letter to an old lover, maybe you’ll send it, maybe you won’t.
