An earthen, aromatic and complex hidden gem Jura red blend! Winemakers Jean-Baptiste Menigoz and Florien Kleine Snuverink are a spirited pair growing vines and fermenting low-intervention wines in the heart of Jura’s Arbois region. Their seven hectares of regionally beloved grapes include chardonnay, pinot noir, ploussard, trousseau and savagnin, all grown organically with biodynamic treatments when needed. ‘Boomerang’ is a 50/50 blend of 25-year-old, earthy, berried ploussard and spiced, aromatic trousseau that grow on grey marles, a sedimentary rock from the early Jurassic period (roughly 200 to 176 million years ago), which are known to heighten acidity and aromatics in wine. The grapes were destemmend by hand in the vineyard and saw two weeks of skin contact individually before being pressed and meeting in stainless steel. The perfect blueberry, hallway potpourri, peppy trapped CO2, cherry candies, black pepper, stables, blue koolaid, limestone minerality, the smell of opening a can of cranberry sauce, ground clove, grapefruit rind, rose hips & a rose petal texture. Pour alongside Sunday roasts complete with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and extra gravy.
