Light, crunchy & ready to delight, meet JC Garnier’s ‘Les Nouettes’. Originally from Brittany, Jean Christophe Garnier worked as a sommelier before moving into winemaking, and acclimating himself to the region by working for Loire royalty, Marc Angeli. Here, on the south side of the Layon River, JC tends to small plots of Loire specialties like chenin, cabernet franc, grolleau, gamay & pineau d’aunis, ranging from 40-60 years in age. Whole cluster carbonically macerated, the red fruited grolleau is ebbed forwards by the soaring bergamot aromatics of the pineau d’aunis, and wrangled into one entity by six months of aging. Wild blackberry bushes on parade, sour plum pop, crunchy reduction, morish as heck, white pepper, your zipper is open kinda acidity, serve yourself tea and herb shop & invisible-man tannins. Enjoy while watching Personal Shopper and remembering what you were doing in 2016.
