Frontenac Blanc, Montreal, Quebec
A freakin’ fancy Canadian hybrid revelation for lusty chenin lovers. New to the GWI family, Lieux Communs are a small, urban winery in Montreal that work with vineyards, orchards, and small farms across Quebec and Ontario, while still tending their own vines in Oka, embracing the principles of regenerative agriculture! Unrestrained and experimental, they are guided more so by their tastebuds, curiosity and inspiration, making use of flowers, teas, herbs, berries, honey and grape skins to craft their unique visions. 50% carbonic maceration for hoisted aromatics and aged for 10 months in neutral barrel for a flouncy mouthfeel that really puts you in the recline-on-a-chaise-lounge mood. Ripe squished honey crisp apple, gulls calling kinda seaside minerality, warm almond paste, whipped butter & a white flower tiara. Enjoy with shell swaddled treats such as lobster, conch & abalone.
Marquette, Vidal & Frontenac, Montreal, Quebec
A soaring, sparkling red-white blend, filled with red fruits and fervour. New to the GWI family, Lieux Communs are a small, urban winery in Montreal that work with vineyards, orchards, and small farms across Quebec and Ontario, while also tending their own regeneratively farmed vines in Oka! Unrestrained and experimental, they are guided by their tastebuds, curiosity and inspiration, focusing on local HYBRIDS, while also delving into flowers, teas, herbs, berries, honey and grape skins to craft their unique visions. Now in its third iteration, ‘Envol’ is a blend of rich and spiced, direct pressed marquette, carbonically macerated, floral vidal & a touch of cherried frontenac to pump up the jam. Cherries and musk, prancing acidity, like emptying the bottom of a candy packet into your mouth, pool noodle, pollen sneeze, tall grass & leafy greenness that balance out the juicy nature. Enjoy with birthday cake and a paper hat elastic digging into your jawline.
De Chaunac & Vidal, Montreal, Quebec
A lifted, red-white hybrid blend that reads like a Quebecois trousseau of sorts! New to the GWI family, Lieux Communs are a small, urban winery in Montreal that work with vineyards, orchards, and small farms across Quebec and Ontario. They are winemakers without restriction, tending their own regenerative vines in Oka, and making use of flowers, teas, herbs, berries, honey and grape skins to craft their unique visions. Carbonically co-macerated, old hybrid vines from Niagara, the tartly fruited de chaunac (red) and hardy, plush vidal (white) from Stoney Creek, Ontario are an inviting match. Red delicious apple, throat coating, cherry mash viscosity, cinnamon bark peel, sweet herbs & dry spices. Enjoy while researching which hybrid grapes would do best in your backyard!
