The blurred edges are where some of the best kept secrets prevail, in this case the tension-fuelled tightrope walk between a light red and a rosé. Marto Wörner works organically and with biodynamic farming principles in the Rheinhessen, alongside partner and notable fellow winemaker, Alanna Lagamba. The dark-fruited portugieser and herbaceous scheurebe were harvested from the same vineyard (#sleepoverz), crushed by foot as whole bunches and macerated together for about a week to get very well acquainted (imagine a first date that last 168 hours?!). They are then blended with the ever-charming pinot noir grapes which were macerated in whole bunches for one month pulling enveloping tannins and rose-licked aromatics, while regent (a thick-skinned hybrid) brings rolling, cherried vibes. Buried ruby tones, fresh n’ sumptuous florals, licking rocks wet from the rain, grapefruit acidity, a toddler mashing rhubarb & silken herbs tossed into the tousling winds of this outlier beauty. Enjoy while watching the movie Duck Butter & snacking on pickled beets.
