Muskat Ottonel, Traminer, Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner & Sauvignon Blanc, Burgenland, Austria 

A textured, aromatic and savoury Austrian orange to entice the senses, allll the senses. Bernadette and Markus Altenburger are based in the village of Jois, with 17 hectares on the slopes of Leithaberg overlooking Lake Neusiedl. Since Markus took over his family’s estate fifteen years ago, the winery has transitioned to certified organic farming, a low-intervention winemaking philosophy, and even has a biodynamic certification on the way! 'Ois Erleben’ or “all experience”, is a solera-style white blend combining the 2023, 2024, and 2025 vintages, sourced from five organically farmed vineyards around Jois, and planted on limestone, chalky loam, and schist soils. The blend of aromatic, musky muskat ottonel, floral traminer, zesty welschriesling, verdant grüner veltliner, and mineral sauvignon blanc were all macerated on skins to extract tactility and aromatics, then aged in concrete eggs and prized Stockinger oak barrels to round. Peach juice, whole mandarin, pink grapefruit, underripe pineapple, dried herbs & a saline, somewhat iodine-y minerality. Pour alongside red snapper with an herb sauce of parsley, cilantro, dill, chives, fresh basil leaves, tarragon, garlic, shallots, capers and lemon.
